Frequently Asked Questions
An IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) is a professional who specializes in helping moms and babies with all things breastfeeding and chestfeeding. They are the gold standard in breastfeeding care. Think of an IBCLC as your go-to support person for feeding—someone who’s trained, certified, and experienced in everything from latch struggles and milk supply questions to pumping, bottle feeding, weaning, and beyond.
But most importantly, an IBCLC is there to walk beside you with compassion and encouragement. Feeding your baby can be beautiful but also overwhelming at times, and having an IBCLC means you don’t have to figure it all out alone.
Whether it’s your first baby or your fourth, an IBCLC provides practical tips, emotional support, and personalized care so you can feel confident and comfortable feeding your little one in the way that works best for your family.
I currently offer in home and virtual consultations, along with group classes on topics such as prenatal breastfeeding information and pumping.
I am based out of Massapequa Park in Long Island so I primarily service homes in Eastern Nassau County and Western Suffolk County. Under special circumstances, I can provide sessions outside of those areas, just e-mail me to see if I can accommodate where you are an if any travel fees apply.
Yes! I currently am an out of network provider with MOST Aetna and United Healthcare Plans. This means that I can bill directly to your insurance and let you know if there are any co-pays or cost shares, which might be different from your standard co-pays.
I am in the process of becoming a network provider for Fidelis, Anthem plans, and VA plans, so stay tuned for that!
I am affiliated with The Lactation Network which also accepts insurance if you are in network with BCBSIL, BCBSRI, First Health, First Choice Health, Imagine Health, Meritain (select states), Multiplan, PNOA, Sutter Health, UHC, VA CCN - Optum East (regions 1-3), and Velocity.

This fall, I am teaching a prenatal breastfeeding class on Monday 10/20 at 7pm via the Farmingdale Continuing Education program at Farmingdale High School. Please visit their website here and click FALL 2025 ONLINE REGISTRATION to search for my 'Latch and Learn' class (exact same class as 'The Prental Peek' that I typically market but the district wanted a more descriptive course title). The cost is $15 for Farmingdale district residents, $25 for out of district residents.
Having an IBCLC come to your home is meant to feel calm, supportive, and comfortable—like having a knowledgeable friend walk beside you. Here’s what usually happens:
A Gentle Start
We’ll sit down together and chat about your birth, your feeding journey so far, and any questions or concerns you have. No rush, no judgment—just listening and understanding. We may also review your previously completed intake form if I have any follow up questions.
Feeding Observation
If your baby is ready, we’ll watch a feeding together. I’ll gently guide you with positioning, latching, and any adjustments that could make things easier or more comfortable for you and baby.
Baby Check-In
I’ll check your baby’s weight (with my portable scale), watch how they transfer milk, and look at things like their mouth, tongue, and overall feeding patterns and behaviors. I make sure to explain everything that I am seeing and doing so you are always aware what's going on.
Mom Check-In
We’ll also talk about how you are feeling—physically and emotionally. I may assess breast/nipple health, discuss supply, and troubleshoot pumping if needed.
Personalized Plan
Before I leave, you’ll have a clear, customized plan that feels realistic for your family. Think: simple steps you can try right away, plus resources to support you.
Follow-Up Support
You won’t be left on your own—I’ll check in after the visit and am available if new questions pop up (because they always do!). I also e-mail over any resources we discussed during our visit.
The goal: to make feeding less stressful, more comfortable, and more enjoyable—for both you and your baby.
